Pancakes and maple syrup, pecans and oranges. This drink plays on the senses beyond sight, smell, taste and touch, but also from a point of nostalgia and memory for those that know the flavors of the US well.

Method

  1. 1

Add all ingredients to a mixing jug and fill with ice. (See the Woodfords Reserve Pancake recipe below if you haven’t already.)

  2. 2

Stir together with ice and then strain into an Old  Fashioned glass.

  3. 3

Fill with ice and finish with a twist of orange, serve  pecans in a small bowl on the side.

For the Pancake Infused Woodford Reserve

You will need 300ml (3 parts) of Woodfords Reserve and 100g (1 part) pancakes.

To Make it:

Add Woodford Reserve and ripped up pancakes to a bowl,  place a lid on and put in the fridge.

Steep for 24 hours.

Tip the contents out into a sieve with a fresh bowl be low, then press the pancakes to extract all the whisky.

Take a sterile bottle, add a funnel lined with a coffee  filter and pass the whisky through it to perform finer filtration. You will likely have to replace the coffee filter as it becomes blocked. How many times you need to do this will depend on how much whisky you need to filter.
